Hansa Iyengar is an Analyst in Ovum’s IT Services practice where she covers the application modernization space in the context of the digital enterprise, specifically in the North American and UK markets. She is also in charge of expanding Ovum’s coverage of the mid-market vendors operating in these geographies, and advises both clients around sourcing approaches and vendors on go-to-market strategies. In addition, she looks at the growing distributed agile software development space and its role in enabling the transformation of business technology.

Hansa has returned to Ovum, where she previously spent five years, after a stint as a sourcing and vendor management analyst at Forrester. There, she wrote about the offshore vendor landscape, the feasibility of alternative near-shore and offshore locations other than India, and in particular how a series of business, technological, and supplier changes are transforming the client-vendor relationship. Prior to joining Forrester, Hansa was part of Ovum’s Tools & Insights team, where she helped lay the groundwork for many of Ovum’s data tools.

Hansa is a recognized industry expert in her area and has been widely quoted in the online versions of The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, CIO.com, and ZDNet and has also been featured prominently in leading Indian publications such as Business Week, The Times of India, and The Hindu. She has also been featured in major Latin American industry publications such as Nearshore Americas and has been a panelist at BRASSCOM’s Global IT Forum.

Hansa holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and an MBA in Finance from the Gujarat University, India.

Tony is a Senior Analyst in Ovum’s TV Practice. He is responsible for identifying and analyzing key trends affecting both the traditional TV business and emerging forms of visual entertainment. With a background in home entertainment, Tony is particularly interested in OTT distribution and new business models in digital entertainment. His experience has given him a deep knowledge of Nordic and Central and Eastern European markets which will complement his wider perspective across the 150 TV markets that Ovum covers globally.

Tony joined Ovum in late 2014 after seven years as a Senior Analyst at IHS Media (formerly Screen Digest) where he covered Home Entertainment, focusing on the transition from physical formats to OTT platforms, Blu-ray, DVD, and 3D video as well as emerging formats for home entertainment such as Ultraviolet.

Tony holds a BA in Modern History from the University of North London and an MA in Imperial and Commonwealth History from King’s College, London.

Ronan has been analyzing the telecoms and media industry since 2003. Prior to joining Ovum, he was the lead analyst for Analysys Mason’s Mobile Devices and Digital Economy research where his primary areas of specialization included smartphone and tablet adoption, mobile content and data monetization, and over-the-top (OTT) company strategies.
Prior to Analysys Mason, Ronan was the Head of Mobile at IHS Screen Digest, where he had overall responsibility for the Mobile Media Intelligence service and all related activities. During that time, he led the conception and development of various mobile media and technology forecasts, including those for mobile video, mobile music, mobile games, mobile applications, mobile broadband, and smartphones.

Before becoming an industry analyst, Ronan was an academic researcher at the Centre for Telecommunications Research at King’s College London. He had numerous articles published in international technology journals and also gave various presentations at high-profile conferences. Ronan holds a PhD in Telecommunications from King’s College London.

Chantel joins the analyst team after serving as the Customer Relationship Manager at Ovum since 2013. Prior to joining Ovum Chantel worked as an Operations Manager for Dish Network via Stream Global Services in the Dominican Republic. Upin is a Senior Financial Analyst. He is the point of contact for Ovum’s financial analysis and KPIs. Upin is involved in new product development, such as the telecoms and digital media value chain, as well as the enhancement of current products that contain financial metrics. He provides analysis across a range of industry segments and subject areas in response to changing market dynamics. He also works alongside the forecasting team in the production of financial metric forecasts and developing business modelling tools such as the customer life-time value calculator.

He has over 12 years’ experience of analysing the TMT industry. Prior to joining Informa, he worked as a senior Equity Research Analyst for a number of blue-chip companies including M&G Investments and Morgan Stanley.

After graduating from the University of Cambridge with a degree in Economics, Upin successfully progressed through the Chartered Financial Analyst Program, completing all three exams at the first attempt in 2001. He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Society UK.

Al Blake is a Principal Analyst in Ovum’s Australian Government practice. Al specializes in mobility and virtualization, enterprise integration, and sustainable ICT in a government context. He also has a special interest in service delivery to remote locations and marginal groups.

Al is regularly called upon to present at industry conferences and events on ICT strategy, virtualisation, practical ICT security, and sustainable ICT practises.

Prior to joining Ovum, Al was the CIO for the Department of the Environment in the Commonwealth Government where he was responsible for developing and implementing the department’s overall IT strategy. In alignment with a vision of progressive device independence he implemented a number of innovative solutions including organisation-wide mobile-device BYOD and comprehensive desktop virtualisation. He was also a driving force behind the development and adoption of green IT initiatives within the Australian Government.

Prior to this Al had over 25 years’ experience in Australia and overseas in IT management roles within government, educational, and scientific organisations. This included seven years based in the Solomon Islands and New Caledonia where he was responsible for the design, implementation, and support of IT and communications services to remote locations in the Pacific Island states and territories.

With a breadth of practical experience across the ICT landscape, including database analysis and design, networking, IT security, and enterprise integration, Al is able to successfully bridge the gap between strategic vision and tactical delivery.

Al has an honours degree in Marine Biology from the University of St. Andrews and an MBA in Technology Management from Deakin University.
